Recommendations

As students develop in their ways of thinking, their moral reasoning, and their identity development, the ways in which Career Services and Experiential Education support students must also develop.

I have included various program-specific recommendations on the program pages. A general summary of recommendations would be:

  1. The experiential education journey should start during a student's first year and continue throughout their time as an undergraduate,

  2. Tie in coursework with experiential opportunities to ensure that students have the proper preparation and support before taking on hands-on learning,

  3. Reflection is key to progressing in development, and providing structured opportunities for students to reflect will facilitate this development,

  4. Involvement of faculty, staff, and other members of the university community are critical for students to feel supported in making these developmental transitions, and,

  5. Drawing ties between major, coursework, experiential education, and career through involving various stakeholders, both on- and off-campus, ensures that students are able to make the most of all facets of their undergraduate educational experience.
